Wealthy People – Are They Normal People?
Kathryn Caine Marvin came from wealthy people. Having come from wealthy people, she was used to the advantages that accompany wealth. She was accustomed to being surrounded by the things money could buy. She went to schools that wealthy people attended, shopped where wealthy people shopped and vacationed where wealthy people vacationed. She attended theaters, concerts and dances that the wealthy people frequented.
Coming from wealthy people, she expected to be treated differently than the normal citizen. She demanded things, attention and obedience. If you could not be of service to her, you had little value for her, one of the wealthy people. You were obviously were not from wealthy people and did not know how the wealthy people need to be treated.
Since she came from wealthy people, she had about her, the things and practices that wealthy people had taught her to have. She built a “wealthy people” style home which had room for live-in servants and large expansive rooms. The home was built on a large lot, large enough that it was apparent to anyone that her family was definitely, “wealthy people”.
Mrs. Marvin was clearly comfortable in her life. She socialized with other wealthy people, traveled on ships where wealthy people traveled and visited a variety of countries that wealthy people visited. She belonged to a private club frequented by wealthy people and had a summer home in Fenwick where she was surrounded with her friends and other wealthy people. In planning for her death, she had a mausoleum constructed in a cemetery that contains many of the influential, wealthy people that lived in the Hartford, Connecticut area. In short, even in death, she intended to be in the company of wealthy people.
