Katharine Houghton
Katharine Houghton’s full given name is Katharine Houghton Grant. She is the daughter of the late Marion Grant who was Katharine Hepburn’s younger sister. When Kathy got the role of Joey Drayton in “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, she could not use the stage name of Katharine Grant because there already was a Katharine Grant acting in the movie world and that was Bing Crosby’s wife who used that name. So Kathy, my childhood friend,(see Chapter Six in “Surviving High Society” decided to drop the “Grant” and go by the name of Katharine Houghton. Kate Hepburn, her aunt, also had “Houghton as her middle name.
Kathy has been in many films and has had an active career in theatre, and is also a playwright. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, she married the actor/producer Ken Jenkins in 1971 and has three sons.
